Selvaggio Blu

Selvaggio Blu

The Selvaggio Blu is an extreme trekking, and one of the most beautiful in Europe. As opposed to usual trekking, it is a thorough mountaineering experience. The itinerary was developed in 1988 by two Italian mountaineering guides, following the line of the sea on the remote coast of Baunei. It crosses thick forests, hidden caves and deep canyons, making it necessary to abseil, climb or walk on exposed passages.

There are now many variations to the original route, but that’s the one we walk, as it offers the best panoramas and understanding of ancient Sardinian mountain life. It takes 5 or 6 walking days to complete the Selvaggio Blu and it’s open to anybody with a minimum preparation. Participants must  be confident in walking on steep and very uneven terrain, descend scree and have no fear of the heights. The route is so hard and sustained that it is unthinkable carrying large rucksacks with water, food, ropes, tents and all the necessary equipment. A logistic support is absolutely necessary.

How do we run the Selvaggio Blu

Our tours are planned to reduce any possible risk, led by professional guides and supported by a meticulous logistic support. Our team provides an all-round service, from accommodation to daily provision of water and food. Do not fear starvation, our dinners are cooked on the spot using only fresh local products.

Arriving: we expect all participants to arrive the day prior to start. The group will meet the guides and talk during dinner about all details for the following days.

Accommodation: on the night prior to start we provide accommodation on bungalows or camping ground (rooms with beds are available on request).

Starting: soon after breakfast our team will drive the group and the guide to the starting point.

Walking: each day starts at sunset. We provide breakfast, packed lunch and water for the day. There is no rush but also there is no time to waste.

Dinner: each evening our team welcomes the group on a camp along the itinerary. It cooks dinner on the spot and take care of all waste.

Sleeping: you must have your sleeping bag, mat and tent. We will deliver it to you each night and take it back in the morning. Please notice there is a limited number of tent spaces. It is advisable to have 2 people sleeping in each tent.

You will be living a truly fascinating adventure on the most isolated Mediterranean coastline, walking over sea-cliffs, through rock arches and into narrow chasms. You will be experiencing real wilderness, surpassing mountains and sleeping unforgettable nights under the stars on beaches, caves or abandoned shepherds' refuges.

The Complete Route is divided in 5 walking days. Everybody is welcomed to participate to this trekking provided is in good physical shape and can walk for 6 days on rocks and steep paths. It is possible to withdraw at the end of every day and it is not necessary to strive to the end. There are many variations to the original route, the ones we walk are the ones that offer the best panoramas and understanding of the Sardinian mountain life.

Both routes can be extended (arriving to Cala Luna), diminished or adapted to various group requirements.

We expect participants to arrive the day prior to starting. Our guides will meet the group and explain in more details the route schedule and answer all last-minute questions.

Notes:
It is preferable to have some abseiling experience.
Participants should be fit to walk on steep and uneven rocky paths.

Complete Selvaggio Blu does not run in July and August (it's too HOT)

Selvaggio Blu Express - 2 days

The Selvaggio Blu Express focuses on the final two days of the trekking. It starts from Cala Goloritze and ends in Cala Sisine, passing from the most athletic and demanding spots.
